I heard that really expensive straighteners like the CHI can also curl your hair, but I was wondering if the $15 drugstore curling irons work?

2.put straightner on it and turn straightner 180 degrees and hold it going down.
for looser hair take bigger pieces of hair.
or better yet just braid your DAMP hair overnight for no heat. the more the braids the tighter the wave.

Try this....the other day I put mousse in 2 inch sections, and twisted,and clipped the ends to the to the top of my head, until my whole head was twisted. I sprayed with hairspray then, slept on it over night. (I put a cap thing over it so it wouldn't bug me.) I woke op undid it and my hair looked like twisted pretzels. I sprayed hair spray. Then in leave in conditioner, (I'm sure light detangler would work though.) And brushed through with a wide tooth comb. My waves were perfect. It looked like a cross between crimped, curled, and scrunched. Try it. I dunno if I explained it well enough though. Srry .......hope I helped a bit!!!!

I'm African American . I have very fine soft hair, meduim length. My hair has body when o get it done and for the next few days but after that my hair gets thin and has no body to it. I have hair like yours, well, maybe...you were pretty dramatic, anyway, what I do is use those really big round brushes and I dry it in sections, leaving the brush in the hair while drying another section and so forth, now this will require about 3 of those brushes, curling under by the way...then when all done I don't brush it, I just use my fingers to get it in place and I use Shaper Plus hairspray - try that outWhat to do with my hair?

I envy you. My hair is naturally straight and I can't do a thing with it and if I want curls I have to set it and sleep the whole night through to get s few curls that maybe last three hours or so. It is taken me a long time to realize that it is a big waist of time to want to change the kind of hair that your DNA has provided for you. Why don't you try changing your focus in life like start thinking about people who have to live in wheelchairs for en example or young people with only one leg or arm?
It seems like all your day time efforts are centered around yourself. You know we live in a world with lots of people and there is room for everyone no matter what kind of hair you have or skin shade you might have. Why be so hung up on your hair?
Instead you could be enjoying life or helping someone in need to hurt less?
How about it?
Get it permanently straightened, then do a deep conditioning treatment.
-Wash your hair with Sunsilk Straighten Up shampoo and conditioner.
-Put in Sunsilk Leave in Conditioner, leaving it in for a few hours.
-Wash again with Sunsilk Straighten Up shampoo and conditioner.
-DO NOT BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR. Even with a ionic hair dryer, it will take the moisture out, leaving you with more frizz-poofiness.
-Comb, not brush, your hair right after washing it the secondtime.
-After combing, brush it in sections. Keep brushing until your hair finally dries.
**it sounds like a lot of work but it will start to moisturize your hair wonderfully and it will keep down the frizz and poof more than just a day. After a few times of doing this(not all at once, but over a few days or however often you wash your hair), your hair will become much easier to manage and much smoother :)
1st suggestion Accept your hair. More than likely is sounds as if it is naturally curly. OK have u accepted it.....OK. Here is some advice I suggest that u do some roller sets this will start to strengthen your hair all of the products that u are using to tame your hair will eventully have a adverse affect using them in combination's like this. There is not magic bottle that will change your hair. I think your hair is really damaged at this point due to these products. I suggest roller setting your hair twice a week that is what I am doing now. Don't try to achieve this perfect staight hair unless u want to damage your hair. leave some of the conditioner in for manageability. I use cholestorol conditioner in the shower as a cowash. (Conditioner Wash) I do this twice with about three teaspoons worth. Afterwards Rinse all of the conditioner out. While the shower is hot I suggest VO5 hot oil treatment it can be heating at the bottom of the shower while applying the cowash as stated above.Apply the V05 and then leave it in while u complete the remainder of your shower. Rinse the V05 out at the end and then add a teaspoon of Cholesteral treatement for maneagabliity use huge rollers and set your hair. Let the rollers air dry and then take them out the next day. Doing this twice a week is a great way to start healing your hair. Once your hair is softer u will be able to do more styling.

How I do it is that I just move my straighnter in the direction I want the curl to go.

well when you are taking the straightener down your hair, you can turn it sideways and you can make the ends flipped out [or in]
You could straighten one section and then wrap it in rollers. That always works well with my straighteners. Also, as you're straightening, make sure to go in a path that's not STRAIGHT down, but rather in curves, so this is like, a pre-treatment.
Straighten your hair, then go back and start either half way or at the top and wrap your hair around the straightener. Kind of like a swirly pattern, then pull the straightener straight down and you'll have spirals.
Hair straightener is meant to weigh down your hair, making it heavy, and taking out the curl.
If you use hair straightener to make curls, your curls will be oily looking, if you get any curls at all.
when you are straightening and you get to the bottom wrap your hair around the Chi like a curling iron. I do the same thing. I hope you understand :) Its real easy but Its better to see it on a video I know :) GOOD LUCK!

I hate curling my own hair, so I use my hairdresser ... he gives me a new perm every three months, and makes it look good once or twice between perms. That is really the ONLY way to get good curls, as far as I'm concerned.

Grab some kind of curl enhancing hair product, spritz on the strand, wrap around the iron (don't clamp the iron around it) and old for a few second. Then release, and if it's curly, put some more hairspray. If not, wrap it around the curling iron again. It should work the second time. Do this to the rest of your hair. 3). Then you go to the middle and curl the whole section but for a shorter period of time.
4). Then on this section part your hair whichever way you do and then put your straightner on the the ends of your hair and curl diagonally to frame your face.
You can do this OR do get the beachy type waves, wash your hair at night and AIR dry until its about 70% dry. Then, part your hair in the middle and do 2 buns on each side of your head. In the morning do NOT brush your waves out, just move your fingers through it.

Simply take a piece of hair.
Clamp the iron at the top and turn it round so that the iron is sort of flipped. Still making sure the iron is clamped on the hair, slowly glide through the hair (whilst it is still turned obviously). Do this till you are at the end and let go of the iron.
This is the best I can describe it...
You will then have the perfect ringlet. its really nice fully done or just in little sections...

Can someone explain to me how you do it? I have long hair extensions and love the way my hair stylist curls them with a hair straightener, but when I try to do it at home it just never works! First, you have a great ceramic iron. CHI is among the best. It's also good that you are moisturizing as you attempt this because it is damaging to your anytime you apply heat (although ceramic is supposedly better)
The best way to start is to part a small portion of your hair. If you try too large a size it won't turn out right. The main thing is to keep the same amount of pressure on the iron through the length of your hair or you'll end up with crimps (lines) on the portion that you pressed harder on. This part is the hardest part of curling with a flat iron. You naturally tend to press harder as you move down the hair shaft.
So anyway...after you have the hair parted into a small section, start at the base of the hair shaft (near your scalp) with the flat iron closed and slide downward to the ends of the hair. Depending on how tight you want your curls, you start bending the iron (just like with a curling iron) inward or outward (again, depending on which direction you want your curls to go). The more your bend or curl the iron will determine how tight the curls are. It will take a little practice keeping the iron at the same pressure through the shaft and while curling but the thing is...practicing will get you used to doing it. If you mess it up, you can always just run the iron through your hair again without trying to curl to straighten it out again...and start over.

I do my hair like this ALL the time. I've got pin straight hair and this method works amazingly. However, you must take into account that I don't have extensions. I've never had them before so I'm really not sure what you can and can't do with them that you can do with your own hair. Still, you can take a look at what I usually do and adapt accordingly to make it work for your extensions.
Start out by washing your hair with some sort of curl enhancing shampoo and/or conditioner. This will encourage it to curl and give it a little bit of texture.
Spray your hair all over with some sort of heat protecting spray (Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray is my favorite- inexpensive and works well). Although it's not your own hair, you still want to take good care of it!!
Blow dry your entire head with a diffuser, scrunching to encourage curls and waves.
Once your hair is at least 90% dry, section it off. Separate the hair of the bottom two inches of your scalp at the nape of your neck from the rest of your hair.
Take the top part of your hair and clip it up with a butterfly clip (if you have thick hair you might need more than one).
Take your heat spray one more time and spray this lower section (about 6-8 inches from your head, so you don't dampen it).
Using a 1 inch flat iron (my preference is the 1 inch CHI styling iron- which incidentally is yours, too!), take a strand from this section and clamp it at a 45 degree angle about 2 inches away from your scalp.

Begin by applying a styling gel, mousse or styling spray. Your curls will form better if you use good quality products.
Clip your hair back in multiple sections. Release one section and brush or comb it to remove any knots or tangles. Spray lightly with a soft-hold hairspray if your hair is very fine and doesn't hold curls well.
Begin with the undersection of your hair, working your way up to the top. Twist a small section of your hair with your hands for spiral curls, or take a flat, larger section for loose curls.
Curl desired hair
Roll the iron up and hold it for about 10 seconds.
Open the curling iron and release the curls. Proceed with other sections until all areas have been curled.
Flip your head and shake out the curls, then style your hair with your fingers.
Spray with a light hold hair spray to keep your curls in place.

Also straighting your hair for 7 years can do some damage, hopefully your using some pre-straightner product (can't think what its called :P but i use it, and love it) Maybe your straightner is old. I love my straightner I got at a salon, cost me $120 but is nearly imposible to burn your self, and its better for your hair. As for curling, with an iron, when your hair is wraped around the iron use a light hairspray, dove works great, and spray a few sprays, once all finished use a heavier hair spray, there are tons of products out there for different things, i would go to a salon and ask a proffesional, they will be able to help you tons!

I have naturally wavy hair that goes about 3-4inches below my shoulders. It has layers and it's pretty dry, but my hair routine has been making it better. I use the Pantene smooth vitality shampoo/conditioner (I think that is what it is, it green and white and new), chi silk infusion, and catwalk curl enhancer (not sure what it's exactly called but it's blue and white). I have found that when I curl my hair with it's natural wave it makes the curls stay longer and it looks the same as when I straighten my hair first. I used to straightewn my hair all the time so it has some damage to it. Anytime II use a big curling iron, the curls do NOT stay. CDan you give me any tips on how I should do it? The easiest thing you can do is get some hot rollers. You can get pretty generic brands at walmart or target that are really easy to use. You don't have to flat iron your hair first. Just roll them up and get dressed or do your makeup or something while they chill. I would leave them in for about 15 minutes and then take them out, lightly spray your hair with a medium hold hair spray (I do not recommend anything made by Pantene... These products have lots of alcohol and wax that coat your hair and keeps your hair from getting the nutrients it needs) and then lightly run your fingers through your hair. Finish it off with a little more hair spray and a light mist of shine spray. You'll look like you spent all day on your hair :)

i sleep with my hair half way wet and twisted.
take small 1-2 inches of hair and twist it till its pretty solid. then wrap it into a circle and secure with bobby pins. do that to all of your hair and in the morning it should be pretty curly. make sure u spray with hair spray before and after.
i recommend pump it up hairspray. you can find it in the ebony section in walmart.

I have naturally wavy hair that goes about 3-4inches below my shoulders. It has layers and it's pretty dry, but my hair routine has been making it better. I use the Pantene smooth vitality shampoo/conditioner (I think that is what it is, it green and white and new), chi silk infusion, and catwalk curl enhancer (not sure what it's exactly called but it's blue and white). I have found that when I curl my hair with it's natural wave it makes the curls stay longer and it looks the same as when I straighten my hair first. I used to straightewn my hair all the time so it has some damage to it. Anytime II use a big curling iron, the curls do NOT stay. CDan you give me any tips on how I should do it? The easiest thing you can do is get some hot rollers. You can get pretty generic brands at walmart or target that are really easy to use. You don't have to flat iron your hair first. Just roll them up and get dressed or do your makeup or something while they chill. I would leave them in for about 15 minutes and then take them out, lightly spray your hair with a medium hold hair spray (I do not recommend anything made by Pantene... These products have lots of alcohol and wax that coat your hair and keeps your hair from getting the nutrients it needs) and then lightly run your fingers through your hair. Finish it off with a little more hair spray and a light mist of shine spray. You'll look like you spent all day on your hair :)

i sleep with my hair half way wet and twisted.
take small 1-2 inches of hair and twist it till its pretty solid. then wrap it into a circle and secure with bobby pins. do that to all of your hair and in the morning it should be pretty curly. make sure u spray with hair spray before and after.
i recommend pump it up hairspray. you can find it in the ebony section in walmart.

1. i want to curl m hair without a curling iron. i have the chi hair straightener but it never works to curl my hair. i shower at night, and I have like 10 min in the morning to style my hair, tho i could get up early. my mom wont buy me a hair curler, but she'll but me hair curlers. which brand is the best? are the hot ones the best? i think id rather have hot ones, that only take 10-20 minuets, and the curls last the whole day, with just a little hair spray..i don't like hair spray though, but i'll use it. i like curls, and messy beach waves, also if u have any suggestions about how do curl my hair without curlers that would be great!
2. im having my last birthday party until im older and stuff, that ive been looking foward to forever. i love to grind w/ my friends, mostly girls, once a guy. i told my mom there would be grinding at my party, n i didn't want her coming out and yelling at everybody, she was fine with the grinding. but now she says shes not sure, and shes gonna ask other parents what they think about their children grinding. her words were ';im going to look into it'; :p how do i convince her to let us grind. my whole party will be dancing, and if we can't grind, there will be no point in haveing it. if she tells me we cant grind, i can cry and use that whole tactic, but id rather have her let me cause she wants to. also, i could just let people grind no matter what my parents say, but i could end up in trouble, or never be allowed a parties again...please help!!!!

HI im a 14 year old boy and i have long brown luscious hair. My best friends sister is very pretty with long blonde beautiful hair and she wanted to straighten my hair and i wanted to say yes so badly but had to say no becuz of wat i thought my friends would of said. Okay, while you're out, but leave in conditioner. So that way your hair won't frizz or fry. Also but a heat protecting spray! That is a major thing to buy! Okay. Now that you have what you need, here are the steps...
1. Wash your hair and put in the leave in conditioner while wet.
2. Blow dry your hair. (never straighten wet even if your straightener can!)
3. Pull half of your hair up with a hair tie.
4. Spray the heat spray on the lower half.
5. Straighten the lower half.
6. Let down the rest of your hair.
7. Spray the remaining hair with heat spray.
8. Straighten remaining hair.
9. YOU ARE DONE!
Oh, and to help hiding it from your parents...hmm just keep all the items in your room. In a drawer preferably. That should keep them from finding it. Oh! If they look through your drawers, then put all the supplies under clothes.

SCRUNCH IT!!! haha. my hair is really wavy and looks like crap when i just put it down but i scrunch and it works great, and lasts all day (even with my friends playing with it) Ok, so shower before bed and when you wake up just rinse your hair out (dont wash it again it will take longer to dry) and then towel dry it and upt a curl boosting mousse (i use herbal essencs totally twisted) and work it through your hair. then put in a little of scrunching gel and work it through your hair, then just take your hands and grab up your hair and hold it at the top of your head tight for a couple seconds and keep doing that till your happy with your results. i have sidebangs, so when i do this i either straighten them or clip them off to the side. i actually did this today and go ta ton of compliments on my hair!!! good luck i hope it works for you!How do i curl my hair with a curling iron and get it to stay?

How good are CHI flat irons? I have straight hair and I want big, loose waves. Please answer -- 10 points!?
I'm getting my first flat iron and I really like CHI's Pink Dazzle one, which has a one year warranty (do they last?). I heard CHI irons are energy efficient (20-25 watts) and cause less damage than some other brands' irons because their irons have ceramic coils instead of copper. So anyway, here's what I want to know:
1. Are they good at preventing damage?
2. How's the quality; are they sturdy and do they last?
3. Are the flat irons good for waving your hair?
And since I have no experience with flat irons, I have some questions about using them:
1. What products should I apply before using them and to maintain the curls/waves afterwards (ie. heat protectant, serums, hairspray)?
2. What is the best way/technique to curl my hair?
3. Is it easy to burn yourself and should I prevent that?
4. Can I use the flat iron on my hair when it's wet and will that lessen the damage even more and dry it, too (I know some irons have built-in blow dryers -- I don't think the one I like does, though, but wouldn't the heat still dry it a bit)?
Also, money's not an issue; I'm not searching for a cheaper alternative unless you have used CHI irons (correctly) and think they're plain rubbish.

funny enough..my last flat iron was the chi !!..i also had a years warranty but what happened was it doesn't work anymore..it wont heat up and the wire is all messed..i took super good care of it and i only had it for 8 months. since i got it from a salon..they said i couldn't get my $$ back..blah blah
chi's are really excellent flat iron..they work great on wavy to extreme curly hair..but so do a lot of other flat irons..the new flat iron i got is vidal sasson for course hair..its AWESOME :D
chi isn't worth it to me :P
to flat iron your hair.. separate it in sections..do your under hair first..clip the rest up..then your middle and then your top..it will insure you get every strand and part of your hair. go from the begging of the root to the end slowly. And use a flat brush (minimizes frizz ;D)
ALWAYS BLOW DRY YOUR HAIR BEFORE FLAT IRONING IT!!!!!! loll...flat ironing wet hair will create sooooo much damage trust! blow dry your hair in sections or as is but spray in a heat protective or a heat protective cream(apply when hair is wet)
a good trick that i do to keep frizz down, make my hair shine and seal the strands..is when your in the shower you probs shower in warm water..so before your done..put the water a bit colder..and rinse out your hair. (:

CHI flat iron-please help!?
I have a 1inch Chi Flat iron/straightener. I have pretty think, crazy-curly-wavy hair which I hate. So I straighten my hair everyday with my chi. I want to learn how to create big, soft waves, and spiral curls with the Chi. I know it is a straightener, but I have seen how it can curl/wave hair also. How to keep hair straight after its straightened?

Try raping your hair and holding it there for a few seconds. If that doesn't work but a little bit of hair in at the bottom and twist up.

well what kind of hair do you have? cuz i've tried three of those and they work...it could be your hair is not straigten-able...go see a stylist
try the maxiglide, they have it on qvc sometimes. If you don't know how to use a curling iron ask a close girl friend or have you mom teach you because it's too hard to explain it by just words alone.
none my daughter has natural curly hair and went to a salon and had it straightened for 400.00 bucks and when she washed it it curled right back up and my niece tryed to straightening it for her twice in a month before the salon and fried her hair she had to let it grow out
CHI works the best for straightening ur hair and curl ur hair too. its a lil expensive but it really work. My mom have like black ppl hair...and it still work so it should work for u.
CHI can curl ur hair a lot bettter than the curling iron...just twist the straightner as u go down...remember to keep twisting until u reach the the end of ur hair or else it would look really weird.
Those really dont work unless you have hair that is thin and maybe wavy.
I suggest a GHD or Chi.
As for curling your hair go to youtube and find the user pursebuzz. She has awesome tricks and tips about makeup and hair!

if you want to curl your hair with a straightener,start at your roots,go down and twist the straightener up until it almost touches your roots, then go back down until your hair is out of the iron.then you'll have beautiful curls:)

well get layers and make a small poof on the top of your head

3 is easy and simple, since you both have straight hair to a degree and you can easily jus comb up the top part of your hair
everyonce in awhile you can try a bit of 1 since you wont always be putting up your hair like 3 by parting your hair on the side and blowing your hair in certain directions w/ the hair dryer
I like them in this order: 1, 2, 3. I like the first because it has body and color change. I don't know what ';chi turbo'; is, but I'm guessing the best way to get that body is with large hot rollers. If you don't want to use rollers, you could get a large round brush to use with your blow dryer. Also, there are products that can help you get more volume when you style your hair like that. I need help fixing my hair?
So i have long, thick brown hair. i used to shampoo and condition my hair with special salon stuff but it just didnt work so i tried to use Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight. Either way, when i air dry or blow dry my hair its wavy and frizzy %26amp; kinda volumized. Its not like a huge afro its just big. Although my friends say its so pretty. Its not convincing. I straighten my hair every morning with my Chi Turbo. Luckily my hair isnt damaged. I envy a lot of girls with pretty, thin, shiny hair. Its just not fair. I dont like my natural waves, i love Rachel Bilsons thin wavy hair. Ive heard that if u curl hair with a 1 in. barrel curling iron then use a hair dryer set on cold temperature and blow dry down it gives them a loose look. But w/ my hair so thick, It takes hours. Clamp at the root(for short hair) or about 3 inches down (for long hair) then flip the straightener over with your wrist 180鈥?then pull it down like you're normally straightening it. I normally do the underneath section then the top. If you have thicker hair try multiple layers. If that wasn't clear check YouTube! That's where I learned. Hairspray afterwards. That's why I do :)How to curl hair with straitening iron!!??!?

My suggestion to you, is to use lots of hairspray, and if you want long curls, wrap your hair around the straightener, rather than clip your hair then wrap it. It works better if you like the long curls like Selena Gomez or Lauren Conrad have. If you'd like short curls, then you can clip your hair with the iron then wrap it. Make sure you spray it lots after you're done though, if you want it to hold. I have very thick hair, and this works for me.

I learned by having my hair dresser show me. I find it easier to get it done professionally then touch my style up with my flat iron a few times a week,
i'm guessing you're like, clamping the hair, turning the straightener a few times and pulling down. if you pull down more slowly than you normally have, i think your curl would be more defined. then just hair spray the hell out of it! otherwise, just keep experimenting until you get your hair the way you wantt

3. after each lock of hair you curl, put a tiny bit of gel in and twirl it, then hairspray it
Well it's possible. You have to like kind of act like it's a curling iron, but I think you should just buy a curling iron. It's a lot easier. Sorry I couldn't answer your question better!

basically, when you straighten your hair, you go straight. when you curl your hair, you continuously turn the straightner.

You can curl your hair with straighteners, some say that straighteners with rounded ends are easier to do the job (ie GHD's new range) but it could be a way of getting nore money out of you! What is the best way to curl hair?
I have very thick, long and naturally wavy hair that is usually really frizzy. In the past the way I've curled my hair is I will straighten it with my CHI straightener, and then curl it with my straightener. Unfortunately, very quickly it will loose the curls since it was very straight prior to curling.
What do you think would be the best way for me to curl my hair? I like big curls and with the straightener they are usually pretty small.

Keep in mind please that I have a LOT of hair. Enough for two heads. It's a lot, thick, and very long. It usually takes me about 2 hours to straighten it. With another 1 1/2 to 2 hours to curl it.
Would I be better off getting a curling iron? Or rollers? Or setters?
Please let me know your opinion, product name and how I would use it.
Would I have to straighten my hair first? Wet hair? Etc. Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I normally use my straightener to curl my hair and turn the straightener faster for looser curls then use hairspray after to hold the curls.
The second best way to curl your hair would be to use a 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch barrel iron and also use a good holding hairspray like big sexy curls or something because without it, your curls will become looser as the day progresses. Once you get out of the shower, put some volumizing mousse into your hair. You should try curling your hair without straightening it, maybe that will work better ?What is the best way to curl hair?
Okay i have the same kind of hair.
I say you should go out and buy yourself a Conair curling iron
It should be a decent size 1inch - 1 1/2 inches.
Separate you hair and clip the different layers up.
Start from the bottom layer.
Your hair should be blow dried to the point where its dry
When curling your hair, curl the opposite direction of your face.
For ex: if your using your right hand to curl a small section of hair on the left side of your face your wrist should turn counter clockwise.
That would be curling away from your face
Then after curling all hair one the bottom layer, I suggest spraying some hair spray on it to hold the curls in until you finish all of the layers. I use aussie hair spray, i love it to death and it smells lovely.
pull down the next layer and curl that one the same way.
Continue this process until you make it to the top layer.
Spend the most time on the top layer, it needs to look best.
You wont get it perfect on your first try, your gonna have to practice and you'll get better every time.

Forgot to add, straitening you hair before curling it isnt a good idea. It will confuse the hair, thats probably why the curls tend to fall out when you curl them with your straitener.

They are actually really good to curl with so you might try using them?:) Also don't straighten your hair before curling it as it makes it much harder to handle and probably wont be as curly. This might disgust you but you shouldn't actually wash your hair before curling it either as my older cousin curls mine for me. She says its allot easier for her if i don't wash it and its just simply dry as well. She curls it in sections too as i have so much hair lol but seriously GHD straighteners do work well as i don't really want to spend allot on good curlers. Hope i helped a little?

I saw a DIY video on youtube and tried it myself but my hair is too short. Basically all they did was take a section of hair, start in the middle and clamp your hair. Then roll it up, hold there for 5 seconds, and quickly pull the straightener down like your straightening your hair. 'Quickly' is the key word.
YouTube it, I bet seeing it would be way easier than if someone tried to explain through typing without a visual example.

okay so i just got the chi
so my hairs really straight
and i want to curl it
but it's layered to my shoulders

ok, i have been using this for a long time and i just went to my hairstylist and she did this thing where she kind of curled my hair WITH the hair straightener...it seemed very easy to do but it seems there is a special way...cuz, when i got home to try this technique i couldnt get it to work!

i have an 1'; curling iron,a 1/2'; curling iron, and a chi. i know how to get curls with a chi but how with the curling irons? today is thanksgiving and I'm going to my aunts house, shes one of those people u have to impress, so please help! I don't know how to curl the back hair either.

Spray hairspray all over one chunk, and wrap it around your 1'2'; curling iron.
Let it sit for 30 to 45 seconds and gently let the curl fall.
Spray A LOT of hairspray on the piece again and repeat with the rest of your hair.

I recently did spiral ringlets on a friend for a wedding with a flat-iron. The first thing is to make sure you have a one-inch iron. Clasp the hair like you normally would--Rather than just pulling it through, flip the iron one-half to one-full turn (while at the scalp) and run it through the length of your hair like that (as you said, like curling a ribbon with scissors). All I do is put it to my hair without moving it, but bend it, either up or down...kind of like you are folding it...that's the only way to describe it that I can think of....and if your hair doesn't curl easy, it'll take some time.
DO NOT DO THAT! It will just damage your hair! You need to clasp the ends of your hair at the bottom of the straightner, then twirl the straightner around so that your hair wraps around the straightner! Hold for around 15 secs. This will cause a ringlet type curl....if you want that then hairspray it straight away. If you want a wavy/beach look then loosley run your fingers in it and apply some wax or other product with the tips of your fingers!

I recently did spiral ringlets on a friend for a wedding with a flat-iron. The first thing is to make sure you have a one-inch iron. So i use my chi to curl my hair and it is SO cute in the morning, but by the time 5th period comes around at school, it is flatter and frizzy. I use heat protective spry with holding molecules and i also hair spray it. I give it a few sprays through the day, but with no luck to save it :[. I can scrunch my hair and make it cute.. and I have used a chi flat iron to curl it under... but if I try to curl it any other way with the chi it looks wrong... I want big lose curls. I heard that there is a way to curl ur hair with large socks... but I dunno how that would work? When your hair is damp from washing, blow dry the top part (that you don't want curled), take a large round or cushion brush, and comb thru your hair, and where you want it to start curling, twist the brush and blow dry against it. It will create very large curls that are very soft.
The only way I know of to curl with socks, I haven't done it for years, and it didn't work all that well, but you take a long tube sock, about the same length as what you want to curl. with your hair damp from washing, comb thru it till it's all uniform, and lay strips of hair on a sock lengthwise, with the toe at the end of your hair. roll from the toe upward, and when you get to the top of the sock, you pull the band down and around the rest of it, sort of like how you fold them, wrap itself around it . Do that to your whole head of hair, could take 10 or so socks, and then with a hot blow dryer, hold the air on each one for at least 1 and a half minutes ,to get it hot, and to dry your hair. when done with the blow dryer, leave socks on for at leat 10 minutes without moving to let the curl set. gently, unroll each one, and apply a finishing spray to your curls, to keep them from straigtening.

ok after u get out of the shower towel dry but not all the way when it is damp put some curling mousse or gel in ur hair and get even strands or different sizes depending on what u want twist ur hiar then pin up each strand with a bobby pin then twirl it up 2 the top of ur head when all of ur hair is done blow dry ur hair with a diffuser or a regular blow dryer(diffuser will work better) then when its dried take out the bobby pins then voila
use bendy rollers, you can leave them in over night and wont harm your hair or you could use straightners

Add some mousse or light gel, then brush your hair and divide it into sections, enough sections so that you can take one section and twist it tight and pin it to your head. The twist will make it so that when you take it down it looks wavy and curly, very cute by the way! Keep doing this until your hair is all pinned up and twisted to make loose curly waves. I do this alot when I am bored and it looks really cute and natural when your done! Let me know if it works for you!

sometimes this works but i take the straightener and put hair in it, and twist it hold it and let go, sometimes that works good luck
